4 TIPS TO BRING SPRING INTO YOUR HOME
As the days grow longer, so does our need to leave the dark winter days behind. Craving the warmth and reinvigorating power of the sun, it’s time for us decor lovers and designers to prepare our homes (and minds!) to welcome spring with open arms.
Not sure how to tackle this spring home makeover? Follow these 4 tips and enjoy your house this season:
EMBRACE THE LIGHT
Let the light flow. Open up your windows and enjoy the spring air. Swap your heavy and rather thick winter curtains for a new set with a lighter fabric. Yes, Velvet curtains tend to hang the best but they also have that cozy feeling to them that you definitely won’t be needing in the next few months. Instead try easy to wash, like linen or faux silk.
Think about the colors carefully. Curtains have the power to switch up a room aesthetic, while bolder colors such as ultraviolet and bright yellow, are a great ideas to create a focal point in the room, if you are not planning on changing them regularly, you might want to stick to the more neutral colors like warm sand and harbor mist part of the new soft Scandi palette.
THROW DOWN SOME COLOR
Transform your floor to reflect the new season. While changing furniture is a bit more expensive, one of the easiest ways to transform a room completely while mimicking this season mood is to throw down a bright rug!
With a wide selection of rugs from wool and cotton to indoor/outdoor rugs, choosing the right one can be tricky. Although most home-decor lovers and designers are all about the Moroccan vibe this year, we have seen an increasing interest in handmade products like our tie-dye and degradé rugs.
Dyed with natural colors, these chemical-free rugs are dyed manually, making each one of them a unique piece. Available in this spring’s color palette, the collection features pieces in bright yellow and pink.

CLEAN AND DECLUTTER
Whether we like it or not, spending our winter days at home usually translates into piling up a fair amount of stuff that (be honest!) are hardly ever used at all. Add all the Christmas shopping to that and you will find yourself yearning your annual spring cleanup.
Begin by writing down your priorities. If you fell for the Christmas shopping frenzy, closets and shelves are likely to be your first stop. Go through all your things. Questions such as when was last time I used this? And when would I use it again? Will help you decide between the stays and must-go. Still not sure? You can always try the Oprah Winfrey Closet Hanger Experiment.
Avoid accumulating more stuff by opting out for more open store concepts and baskets. Not only they prevent you from accumulating unnecessary stuff they also add a stylish finishing touch.
BRING YOUR GARDEN BACK TO LIFE
If last week we talked about growing your own indoor orchard, as the days start to get warmer, it is time to turn your attention to your garden.
You can start by trimming trees, climbing plants and bushes growing around doors and windows, it will not only help the growth of new stems but it will also allow more light to enter into your home.
Make the most out of your garden by updating your outdoor entertaining space. Whilst outdoors structures are set to be big in 2018, with “Plug and Play” pergolas and outdoor kitchens, dedicated spaces for cooking and eating will also become a central focus this year.
