+20 YEARS CARING FOR THE PLANET

We believe that we can all make a difference if we choose natural, sustainable, handmade products with quality such that they last almost a lifetime.

We care for low environmental impact. We care about our planet, and we care about offering truly sustainable coziness.

RUGCYCLED®

RUGCYCLED®—THE WORLD'S FIRST WASHABLE UPCYCLED RUG

Rugs are an essential piece in decoration—they provide coziness, protection, and definition to a space. At Lorena Canals, we believe in being able to offer much more than a beautiful, cozy, and quality rug. We believe in a sustainable and eco-friendly rug.

That is why we have created our RugCycled® product line, the first to give a second life to the cotton leftovers from our productions. Because when we use waste as raw material, we not only reduce the impact on natural resources, but we also save on energy and water. NO to waste. YES to saving!

TOWARDS 0 WASTE

Our rugcycled line is growing and we are moving towards being 0 waste. We are introducing new recycled materials like recycled PET and GRS certified recycled polyester fill to design our new baskets, toys and playmats.

IF YOU BUY A LORENA CANALS, YOU HELP SAVE 75% ON WATER

Our dedication to the planet and people drives us to continuously improve our manufacturing processes to achieve maximum sustainability.

We use a water-efficient dyeing method, the "cone-dyeing" method instead of the traditional "piece-dyeing" method, allowing us to conserve up to 75% of water while still producing high-quality colors. Additionally, we recycle the water used for dyeing and washing our carpets, recovering up to 75% of the water in partnership with local authorities.

OUR COLORS HELP PRESERVE THE PLANET

Our rugs have color—lots of colors! But our dyes have no comparison with those used in the rest of the market— all of our colors are dyed using azo-free, non-toxic dyes, certified by international standards like GOTS and OEKO-TEX, ensuring that they're free from harmful substances.

Once the dye is ready, the cotton fibers are rolled on a stick and repeatedly dipped in the tinted waters until acquiring the desired shade. Afterward, they get dried in the sun and, once dry, they get taken to the factory to make the cotton bobbins.

But we are not satisfied with just using natural dyes. We go even further and seek new ways to be sustainable. For example, in our Sheep of the World collection, we have chosen to avoid using dyes and show the natural colors of wool. Similarly, many of our cotton rugs feature the natural shade of their fibers.

WE MANUFACTURE—WE CONTROL

With our own factory in India, sustainability has been in our hands since 1998. It explains how we control the entire manufacturing process from start to finish—from cotton picking to creating our washable rugs and decor accessories.

Not only do we save 75% on water in the making by continuously recycling it, but we only use natural or recycled fibers to make our products.

CHOOSING THE LEAST POLLUTING TRANSPORT

We acknowledge that there is no completely clean transportation, but we strive to use the least polluting option available. That's why we choose to ship our products from India by sea in containers to reduce our carbon footprint  The cargo ship is our mode of transportation.

In addition, the bags you receive at home with our rugs are made of plastic that is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable.
