WASHABLE RUG WOODS SYMPHONY OLIVE
Rugs that combine comfort and easy care
Exposed to daily use in the bedroom, a rug will get dirty sooner or later. That's why at Lorena Canals we go for a simple solution: rugs you can wash whenever you need to, without always relying on the dry cleaner. That practicality is built into the way we design pieces for the home.
When it's time to clean the rug, being able to do it easily makes all the difference. Our cotton rugs are light and flexible, making them easy to pick up and wash at home whenever they need a deeper clean. If you prefer the texture and warmth of wool, our patented WOOLABLE® technology means wool rugs can be machine-washed too, always following each piece's instructions.
Before washing, always check the capacity needed for the size you've chosen and follow the rug's washing instructions. For larger sizes, you may need to use a launderette with bigger machines.
Choose the feel you want beside the bed
In the bedroom, comfort underfoot really stands out at the start and end of the day. That's why, alongside the design, it's also important to choose a texture, thickness and material that feel good and suit how you use the room.
At Lorena Canals you'll find cotton options if you're after something light, soft and easy to handle, with woven finishes, textured details and handcrafted touches that add texture without overloading the space. If you'd rather feel a plusher, warmer step, our wool designs offer more volume and a particularly cosy feel, ideal for placing beside the bed or in a rest area.
Both materials are handcrafted and come in a range of textures, thicknesses and finishes, so you can choose between a lighter, more discreet surface or a rug that really stands out. The choice comes down to the feel you're after, the size of the room, and how you want the rug to work with the rest of your textiles and furniture.
Find the right size for your bed
There's more than one way to place a rug in the bedroom. The size will depend on how much floor you want to cover and the feeling you're after when you get up.
If you're after something for one or both sides of the bed, narrow, elongated shapes work well, in sizes like 80 x 140 cm or 80 x 230 cm, depending on the design. Their more compact size also makes them easier to handle when it's time to wash the rug.
If you'd rather cover more ground around the bed, you'll find rectangular sizes like 140 x 200 cm, 170 x 240 cm or 200 x 300 cm, plus even larger options. Before choosing, always check that the rug's dimensions suit the available space, and, if you want to wash it at home, that they suit your washing machine's capacity too.
Measure the width and length of the bed, along with how much floor you want left visible. If you'll be placing the rug partly under the bed, also work out how far you want it to extend on either side and at the foot. That way, you can choose a size that's well proportioned to the bed and the rest of the furniture.
Shapes to make the most of other corners of the bedroom
Not every bedroom has the same layout, which is why Lorena Canals offers different shapes to help you adapt the rug to the space you have.
If your bedroom is narrow, our elongated rugs fit perfectly alongside the bed, making a great option for covering just the spot where you put your feet down, without taking up too much floor space.
For those looking to mark out a small area within the bedroom, like a reading corner beside an armchair or the space by the chest of drawers, round rugs are the ideal solution. We weave them by hand in different diameters, so you can add texture and warmth to specific spots without covering a large area of floor.
Finally, if you want to soften the rigid lines that a bed and straight-edged wardrobes tend to create, our curved-outline rugs offer a much more relaxed alternative. Thanks to our handcrafted process, the edges have a unique finish that adapts really naturally to the shape of your room.
Soft tones or a splash of colour for your bedroom
The colour of the rug can either blend in with the rest of the bedroom or help you bring in a bit more contrast.
If wood, white or earthy tones dominate your room, you could choose a beige, natural, brown or grey rug to keep the palette soft. At Lorena Canals you'll also find designs made with fibres that keep the material's natural shades, letting you bring in colour more subtly.
If your room has a simple base and you'd like the rug to stand out more, we also offer designs in blue, green, pink and multicoloured patterns. You can use these to add contrast alongside neutral bedding, or to pick up on tones that already appear in the room's other textiles.
Before choosing, pay close attention to the bedding, the headboard and the colour of the floor. If there are already several patterns or bold tones, a more neutral rug can help balance things out. If plain colours dominate, you could go for a design with more texture, pattern or colour.
Handmade rugs for your bedroom
Every Lorena Canals rug is handmade in our workshop in India, with the fibres, textures and finishes of each piece worked by hand. We mainly use natural materials like cotton and wool, non-toxic dyes, and recycled fibres in certain designs.
Because they're handcrafted, there can be small variations between two pieces of the same design. These are simply part of the handmade process and give each rug its own character.
That way, you can choose a rug thinking not just about how you want the bedroom to look, but also about something much more everyday: how you want it to feel when you get up, how much space you need to cover, and how you want to keep it clean over time.

Frequently asked questions about bedroom rugs
What size rug should you choose for the bedroom?
It depends on where you want to place it. If you just want a soft surface for when you get up, an elongated rug on one or both sides of the bed works well. To cover a larger area, our collection offers sizes like 140 x 200 cm, 170 x 240 cm or 200 x 300 cm, among others. Always measure the bed and the floor you want left visible before choosing.
Is it better to put the rug under or beside the bed?
Both options work, but they suit different needs. A large rug placed partly under the bed helps visually tie the whole room together, while an elongated rug on either side concentrates the soft surface exactly where you put your feet down. If you have limited space around the bed, this second option can be easier to fit.
What material should you choose for a bedroom rug?
Cotton is light, flexible and easy to handle when it's time to wash the rug. If you're after a fuller feel underfoot and a warmer sensation, wool is a great choice. At Lorena Canals, both options are machine-washable, following the instructions for each design and size.
Can wool bedroom rugs be washed?
Yes. Thanks to our patented WOOLABLE® technology, our wool rugs are machine-washable too. Before washing, always check the rug's instructions and make sure your washing machine's capacity suits its dimensions.
What colours work best in a bedroom?
If you'd like a calm look, natural tones, beige, white, grey or brown work well paired with wood and neutral bedding. If you'd rather add more contrast, our selection also includes rugs in blue, green, pink and multicoloured designs. It really comes down to whether you want the rug to blend in with the rest of your textiles or take more of a starring role.
What types of bedroom rugs does Lorena Canals offer?
At Lorena Canals you'll find machine-washable cotton and wool bedroom rugs, available in a range of sizes, shapes, colours and textures. Choose elongated shapes for beside the bed, rectangular options to cover a larger area, or round and curved shapes for other corners of the room. You'll also find lighter finishes or ones with more volume, depending on the feel you're after underfoot.
