Yes, all our rugs are washable. Lorena Canals is the creator behind the WASHABLE rug concept and all our rugs are machine washable, even the wool ones. 

The story begins when the designer wanted to buy a rug for her daughters' room so that she didn't have to keep taking it to the dry cleaners. She discovered that this type of rug didn't exist in the market and decided to fill the niche by designing and manufacturing her own washable rugs in India.

Our wool rugs are also machine washable thanks to our WOOLABBLE® patent. After the success of our washable cotton rugs, we wanted to go a step further and make our wool rugs washable too. Stylish, with incredible textures and innovative designs, our patent-registered WOOLABLE® range has shaken up the rug industry and made us the first in the world to offer washable wool rugs.

RUGCYCLED: RugCycled® product line is the first to give a second life to the textile scraps from our productions. Because when we use waste as raw material, we reduce the impact on natural resources.

Efficient Water Use: We recycle the water used for dyeing and washing our carpets. Up to 75% of the water is recovered and reused, in collaboration with local authorities.

Water-Saving Dyeing: We're reducing water consumption by using the more efficient "cone-dyeing" method, which saves around 75% of water compared to "piece-dyeing." 

NATURAL DYES : All of our colors are dyed using azo-free, non-toxic dyes, certified by international standards like GOTS and OEKO-TEX, ensuring that they're free from harmful substances.

CHOOSING LEAST POLLUTING TRANSPORT : We acknowledge that there is no completely clean transportation, but we strive to use the least polluting option available. That's why we choose to ship our products from India by sea in containers to reduce our carbon footprint

Our textile toys are made with natural and recycled materials instead of petroleum-based plastics. They are safer for children as they do not contain harmful chemicals like phthalates or BPA commonly found in plastic toys.

Our rugs are built to last for many years with proper care. The useful life of a carpet is high due to the quality of our technique and materials. It can vary depending on several factors, such as the type of fiber used, the frequency of use and the amount of traffic it receives. In general, a good quality carpet is expected to last 5 to 15 years or more, depending on these factors.

To extend the life of your rug, it is important to maintain it properly. This includes vacuuming regularly to prevent dirt and dust buildup, cleaning up any stains or spills immediately to prevent them from penetrating the fibers, and using a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to avoid damaging the carpet fibers.

COTTON: Lightweight, practical and washable. Cotton is a natural and renewable fiber, known for its high absorption and insulation properties. Not only is it soft and comfortable to the touch, but it is also hypoallergenic, durable and easy to clean, all which make a cotton rug a great choice for any home. With proper care it will last for many years.

WOOL: Artisanally made, lightweight, and less rigid than traditional tufted wool rugs, the Woolable rugs will function better in lower-traffic areas. They are made for decoration purposes and to give comfort to daily life at home. As a highly appreciated natural fiber, wool is known to have exceptional natural performance properties. Capable of keeping us warm in winter and cool in summer, Wool rugs provide a comfortable, reliable and even temperature all year round as they provide natural insulation and protection from extreme temperatures.

You should wash rugs and accessories (except wall hangings or wall decor that can only be washed by hand) at a maximum temperature of 30ºC and select a cycle for delicate items. We recommend using a mild soap, without bleach or softeners, to avoid any possible impact on the material or color of the product. All our cushions and poufs are easily machine-washable. If the cushion or pouf cover has a zipper, the filling must be removed before putting it in the washing machine. If there is no zipper, then the entire cushion, including the filling, can be washed in the machine.

The fabric softener contains chemical components that can damage the rugs and accessories, so it is not recommended to use it in the wash. For more details, please refer to our washing and maintenance instructions.

Yes, both cushions and washable rugs can be put in the dryer as long as it is done at minimum temperature. Drying washable rugs in the dryer will make their texture even softer and fluffier. Before use, we recommend that you tumble dry your rug for 10 minutes at a low temperature to remove any fold marks formed during packing. See our washing and care instructions for more details.

If you want to remove the rug for a while, you can fold it and store it in a closet or in a place that is not humid and does not receive direct sunlight. You can also roll it up to avoid fold marks,

Although if it has been folded for a long period of time, you can put it in the dryer for a short cycle and any marks will disappear.

4. Protect your carpet: place a protective pad under your carpet to prevent slippage and to protect the carpet backing from wear.
5. Rotate your carpet: change the location of your carpet periodically to distribute wear and tear and prolong its life.

Limit exposure to direct sunlight: prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can discolor and damage the fibers of your carpet. Use curtains or blinds to protect your carpet from direct sunlight.

Have your carpet professionally cleaned: professional carpet cleaning is recommended at least once a year to keep your carpet in top condition and prolong its life.

Yes, vacuuming your carpet is an important part of regular maintenance to keep it in top condition. It is important to vacuum your carpet at least once a week to prevent the buildup of dust, dirt and other debris that can damage carpet fibers. 

When vacuuming, be sure to do so carefully to avoid damaging the fibers and use a soft brush attachment for delicate carpets. It is also important to regularly change the vacuum bag or empty the vacuum canister to avoid dust and dirt build-up inside the vacuum cleaner.

The color is fixed during the manufacturing process, so it is not a problem to wash the product as many times as necessary. However, we recommend washing the carpet or accessory separately, as it may lose some color during the first few washes as a result of the excess cotton that remains between the fibers after polishing the product.

The sun could damage the color of the rug, as they are made with 100% natural cotton and artisan dyes, so we recommend avoiding exposure to the sun for a long period of time.

We recommend that at the end of the washing cycle you immediately remove the rug from the washing machine and spread it out in a dry place to dry or put it directly into the dryer at a low temperature. Under no circumstances should the rug be left wet in the washing machine after washing, as the moisture may cause color transfer, damaging the original dyes of the rug. Don't forget that our dyes are natural, non-toxic and handmade. Your carpet will not lose color after washing, because all dyes are fixed during the manufacturing process. However, it is a handmade and delicate product that, like any natural cotton textile, requires special care to keep it as the first day.

The baskets are made of 100% natural cotton and can be easily folded and placed in the washing machine. When you take out your basket, just shape it and it will be as good as the first day. However, we recommend that you let it air dry and not tumble dry for a more natural shape.

At Lorena Canals we have anti-slip PVC mesh that is placed under the carpet so that, depending on the type of floor, it does not slip at all. They are of great quality as they have a very dense weave, and are available here in three sizes: 110 x 130 cm, 130 x 190 cm and 160 x 230 cm.

Like the rest of the manufacturing process, the dyeing of our rugs and accessories is also handmade. The dyes are natural and are boiled in water, which is then used to dye the cotton. That is why, sometimes, the final color may vary slightly. The manual elaboration of our carpets and accessories is our seal of quality: each article is unique, no two are alike. Washable rugs need to have flexibility to be machine washable. We have thicker and thinner cotton rugs, but all of them are lightweight and can be easily moved from one place to another. This makes them very practical, not only because they can be washed at home whenever necessary, but also because they can be moved around as needed.

These marks are formed when the rug is folded and stored for a period of time. Before using it for the first time, we recommend that you put it in the dryer for 10 minutes at a low temperature to remove the fold marks formed during packing. If you do not have a tumble dryer, a quick cycle in the washing machine will achieve the same purpose.

WOOL PREMIUM: Our premium wool rugs are handcrafted using natural undyed wool from various sheep species to showcase their true colors. We blend it with 20% New Zealand wool for added softness and durability. Note that natural color variations may occur between lots.

Due to the unique nature of custom rugs, we do not accept returns on these items. Once you have approved the specifications and design of your custom rug it will be made specifically for you and cannot be resold to another customer.

While we make every effort to create your custom rug to your precise specifications, it is important to note that due to the nature of fibers and the artisanal production process, there may be slight variations in size.

As such, we allow for a tolerance of +/- 5% on the size of your rug.
