Lorena Canals is the person behind the firm that bears her name, together with a great team. Extremely creative and very committed to the design of sustainable and solidary products, her practical sense brought her to create the first washable rug in the world. Her obsession for details, quality, and originality, makes the brand one of the most innovative, launching new collections and renewing its catalog every year.
From the beginning in 1998 in her garage till today, Lorena Canals is the creator of the washable rug concept. The brand offers rugs, accessories and textile toys sustainably handcrafted with natural fibers, both for home and kids’ decor.
Today, Lorena Canals is present in more than 70 countries around the world. Lorena founded her own artisanal factory in India and now has offices in Barcelona, New Delhi, and New York. All products are designed in Barcelona and handcrafted in India, following fair trade practices and giving back to the community with its Sakûla Project.
Lorena Canals products are handmade in our factory in India, where we have more than 170 artisans who are always committed to fair trade practices.Each of our rugs bears the signature of Lorena Canals, hand-embroidered on the back, and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity that attests to its origin and commitment to people and the planet. All our pieces, besides being handmade, use non-toxic dyes, are zero waste, save water, and fulfill a social mission through our Sakûla Project, which focuses on educating the children of the factory's artisans.We are proud to say that our rugs are more than just beautiful pieces for your home. Our leftover production fabric is shredded into fibers and then spun into recycled yarn that is used to make the rugs’ canvas bases. The designs are later tufted on top in natural, undyed cotton, creating a soft and plush surface.

That is the secret of the high durability of our rugs. Natural fibers—WOOL or COTTON—and artisan techniques ensure a longer lifespan than most rugs on the market have. The quality of these natural raw materials makes them resistant, wash after wash.
